Amanita Mushroom Crochet Ensemble–Custom Fit Corset, Bolero & Hat Toadstool Princess Ren Faire Set

**Keep in mind please--a traditional corset uses unflexible components such as leather, boning and fabric that does not stretch to allow you to cinch it tight and hold all the jiggles firm. This crochet corset will offer some cinching power but will not hold firm like a traditional corset will. The corset is made with natural fibers and single crochet stitches that will have some stretch and give, making it much more comfortable for all day wear, but will not have the true cinching power of a traditional corset.

The corset is made by crocheting two strands of worsted weight 100% cotton yarn together and worked using a smaller hook. This creates a structured and slightly rigid piece that will keep its shape better and maintain the silhouette we are after. Each front panel is made identically to maintain the perfect mirror image for the lacing channels. The front points measure 7 1/2" tall. A lovely crab stitch edging offers unique texture as well as a significant support to keep that front lace straight and beautiful.

The perfect and custom fit for you happens with the back panel. This is the part that is adjusted to match your waist measurement. The back panel stands 5" tall. The back panel and front panel edges are crocheted together using the same crab stitch as the front. This not only creates a unique and textured seam but also adds a bit more stability to the back panel to help keep it flat and smooth.

A delicate ruffle is crocheted directly on the bottom edge of the corset, using one strand of the red worsted weight yarn and a larger hook. This makes a light and airy adorably flirty ruffle that accentuates your movement. The bottom border is crocheted using the DK weight yarn for a delicate and thin decorative edging.

The spots for the corset and bucket hat are also made with the white DK weight yarn. They are crocheted separately and then hand sewn randomly in place.

A purchased 1/2" satin ribbon is used to lace up the corset.

I make the matching bolero next. I use one strand of worsted weight cotton for the main portion of the shrug. Using your shoulder width measurement, your armcye measurement (around the armpit over the top of the shoulder), and your upper bust measurement (around your chest above the breasts in a straight line from armpit to armpit around your body) to calculate your bolero. It is a very fitted shrug, designed to be snug across the shoulders and upper arms before flaring out to make a bell sleeve at the wrists. The sleeves are measured to hang to your preferred length: to your wrists, knuckles or fingertips. A dainty white scallop border decorates the edges of the bolero, made using white worsted weight yarn. The front tie is woven through the red bolero as well as the white edging to create a secure tie. The adjustable tie offers an even better fit for you.

The cute finishing touch is the red bucket hat. It maintains the Amanita design with the matching white spots and white frilly gills peeking out from under the red brim. The red hat is made as a slightly loose bucket hat, and the brim is started slightly higher than traditional hats. The brim offers more of a flare than a traditional bucket hat. The white gills are created as a second, deeply ruffled brim and is crocheted directly to the hat in white worsted weight yarn. 

The spots are made last, using the same design as the corset, and are hand sewn on randomly across the hat.

The only thing I did not make with my own two hands in this ensemble was the purchased satin ribbon for lacing. If you want the outfit to be 100% handmade and crocheted, I can crochet your lacing in white worsted weight yarn upon request.
